Maybe you have never read the book Aesop's Fables, but you must be familiar with some stories written in
the book, such as The Farmer and the Viper, The Race between Hare and Tortoise, A Crow Drinking Water,
The Fox and the Grapes, etc. China National Theatre for Children produced the same name drama Aesop's
Fables as the first one of our World Classical Fairytales Year, intending to share the significant ancient fables
with young audiences.
This drama subtly put the famous stories together, created a whole new story. A little boy and his famer
daddy lived in the forests happily. But unexpectedly, the farmer was bitted and killed by the snake he saved,
leaving the little boy alone to face dark, hungry, as well as the ferocious wolf. After experienced a series of
stories and adventure, the little boy gained integrity, wisdom and courage, but still didn‘t find the treasure father
left him. Under father’s grape tree, the little boy turned the soil with hands, then the tree bear a lot of sweet
grapes. Finally, the little boy found the most precious treasure left by his father, which are industrious hands.
This drama has strong interactivity, and is imaginative. The actors‘ performance were fabulous, and the stage was strangely various. This is a good drama, simple but intellectual, deep but humorous, warm and nice.
